Rather expected game in Gold Coast where 12th ranked Rollers (3-10) were defeated by ninth ranked Brisbane Spartans (6-7) 83-76 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Rollers won third quarter 20-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Brisbane Spartans dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Rollers' 20. Brisbane Spartans forced 20 Rollers turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Tom Jervis (211-87, college: Troy) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) and center Ben Volkman (206, college: Maryville, MO) who added 14 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. American forward Thalo Green (200-78) responded with 16 points and 6 assists and point guard Adam Darragh (181-79, college: Martin Methodist) scored 15 points. Four Rollers players scored in double figures. Brisbane Spartans moved-up to eighth place in League. Loser Rollers dropped to the thirteenth position with ten games lost. Brisbane Spartans will face higher ranked Sunshine CR (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Rollers will play against South West Metro Pirates (#6) and hope to win that game.
