Regular Season Round 25: Piratas - Fast Break 67-81
Date: July 18, 2017
The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Bogota: Fast Break (#1) and Piratas (#5). Piratas were defeated at home 67-81 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The former international guard Stalin Ortiz (190-81, college: Valparaiso) fired 29 points for the winners. Naturalized Venezuelan power forward Luis Julio (201-80) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Fast Break's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Brandon Givens (198-87, college: NC-Wesleyan) produced 32 points and 8 rebounds and the former international power forward Jairo Mendoza (203-85, college: New Orleans) added 10 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. Fast Break (22-1) have an impressive series of twenty two victories in a row. Newly promoted Fast Break maintains first place. Piratas lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Sabios. Fast Break will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Piratas will play again at home against the league's leader Fast Break (#1) and are hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
