Regular Season Round 11: Chongqing - Beijing 130-121

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 10th ranked Beijing's (4-7) road loss to ninth ranked Chongqing (6-5) 121-130 on Wednesday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 33-23. But Beijing won third quarter 31-27. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Chongqing shot 60.2 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Chongqing especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Beijing's players. It was a great evening for guard Yang Wang (198-90) who led his team to a victory scoring 38 points (!!!). Ukrainian center Vladyslav Koreniuk (210-94, agency: Octagon Europe) helped adding 28 points and 9 rebounds. American center Michael Holyfield (211-92, college: Sam Houston St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 21 rebounds and the other American import guard Marquis Weddle (185-88, college: W.Virg.Wesl.) scored 35 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Chongqing and four Beijing players scored in double figures. Chongqing moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Guangxi and Luoyang. Beijing at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with seven games lost. Chongqing will face league's second-placed Shaanxi W. in Xian in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Beijing will play on the road against Lhasa (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
