Regular Season Round 14: Miramar - Cordon 70-80

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Montevideo: Cordon (#4) and Miramar (#5). Miramar was defeated at home 70-80 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Cordon made 26-of-33 free shots (78.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Miramar turnovers. 26 personal fouls committed by Miramar helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Brazilian center Dida Pereira (203-92, college: Sequoias CC) had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Nicolas Ibarra (192-82) chipped in 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 13-for-13 from the free throw line !!!) during the contest. Cordon's coach Matias Nieto used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Martin Trelles (187-96) responded with 19 points and 7 assists and American power forward Jeffrey Fahnbulleh (200-85) scored 6 points and 11 rebounds. Cordon have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Miramar at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost.
