The game in Manizales supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Academia (17-9) played at the court of 7th ranked Sabios (9-17). Academia smashed Sabios 100-78 on Wednesday. Academia looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Canadian point guard Tyler Murray (195-90, college: Wagner) notched a triple-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the effort and the former international point guard Simon Granados (182-93) supported him with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Academia players scored in double figures. Even 18 points and 5 assists by Santiago Betancur did not help to save the game for Sabios. Naturalized American guard Ricardo Rivera (190-91, college: Voorhees) added 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Sabios' coach Ruddy Martinez gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Academia have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 17-9 record having four points less than leader Fast Break. Sabios lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth place with 17 games lost. They share the position with Piratas. Academia will meet Caciques (#5) in the next round. Sabios will play against Patriotas in Boyaca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
