Regular Season Round 26: Piratas - Fast Break 90-92

Sixth-ranked Piratas (9-17) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Fast Break (23-1) in Bogota on Wednesday. The visitors managed to secure only two-point victory 92-90. However their fans expected much easier game. The former international guard Stalin Ortiz (190-81, college: Valparaiso) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Dermaine Crockrell (185-89, college: Bemidji St.) contributed with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Crockrell is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Fast Break's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Brandon Givens (198-87, college: NC-Wesleyan) replied with 30 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and Venezuelan swingman Jesus Medina (188-94) added 21 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Piratas. Five Fast Break and four Piratas players scored in double figures. Fast Break have an impressive 23-game winning streak. Newly promoted Fast Break maintains first position with 23-1 record. Piratas lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 17 games lost. They share the position with Sabios. Fast Break are looking forward to face Cimarrones (#3) in Quibdo-Choco in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Piratas will play at home against Condores and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
