Regular Season Round 21: Hobart C. - Canberra G. 100-69

No shocking result in a game in Hobart where second ranked Chargers (12-8) smashed 7th ranked Canberra Gunners (4-17) 100-69 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Chargers. Canberra Gunners was better in fourth quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Chargers dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Canberra Gunners' 26. Chargers forced 22 Canberra Gunners turnovers and outrebounded them 44-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American point guard Chris Whitehead (175-92, college: Bellarmine) who scored 29 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. His fellow American import swingman Robert Heyer (190, college: Boise St.) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds. Five Chargers players scored in double figures. Chargers' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Daniel Joyce (194-87) who recorded 24 points and center Ben Allen (211-86, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Chargers maintains second place in League with 12-8 record having just five point less than leader Mackay M. Loser Canberra Gunners keep the seventh position with 17 games lost. Chargers will face Sabres (#4) in Cheltenham in the next round. Canberra Gunners will play at home against Dandenong Rangers and hope to win that game.
