Very important is a road loss of Piratas (1-1) against Barcelona (1-1) on Friday night. Visiting Piratas were defeated by Barcelona in a tough game in Guayaquil 81-86. The best player for the winners was Cuban swingman Marvin Cairo (201-91, agency: Pro Sports) who scored 28 points. Puerto Rican point guard Omar Alvarado (180-83) chipped in 18 points. American forward Willie Clayton (203-92, college: Georgia St.) produced 10 points and 8 rebounds and guard Carlos Malatay (180-90) added 18 points respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Piratas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Barcelona will meet Triple E-Uda (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Piratas will play against Leones (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
