Regular Season Round 21: Perry Lakes H. - SW Slammers 102-105

Important game to mention about took place in Floreat. Sixth ranked Slammers (14-9) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 8th ranked Hawks (12-13) 105-102 on Friday evening. Slammers made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. Slammers looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Hawks were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American-Irish forward Brian Voelkel (198-92, college: Vermont, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who had a triple-double by scoring 18 points, 19 rebounds and 20 assists. American guard Michael Lay (180-83, college: Concordia, OR) chipped in 35 points (!!!), 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Matthew Adekponya (194-90) who recorded 30 points and 4 assists and American center Brian Carlwell (211-87, college: San Diego St.) added 15 points and 15 rebounds respectively. Five Slammers and four Hawks players scored in double figures. Hawks' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Slammers maintains sixth place in League with 14-9 record. Loser Hawks keep the eighth position with 13 games lost. Slammers will face league's second-placed Wanneroo in Joondalup in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hawks will play on the road against Buccaneers (#3) in Wonthella and hope to win that game.
