Regular Season Round 12: Anhui - Hebei X. 143-141

A very close game took place in Anhui between Anhui and Hebei X.. Third ranked Anhui (8-4) got a very close home victory over 10th ranked Hebei X. (5-7). Anhui managed to escape with a 2-point win 143-141 on Friday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hebei X.. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Anhui made 29-of-36 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. Anhui outrebounded Hebei X. 54-40 including 18 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of Chris Johnson (210-85, college: LSU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 42 points (!!!), 22 rebounds and 4 assists (went 13 for 13 at the free throw line !!!) and point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St.) who added 40 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 10 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Brandon Costner (206-87, college: N.Carolina St.) with 48 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 6 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) produced a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 8 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Anhui have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Shaanxi W. and Hunan. Loser Hebei X. dropped to the eleventh position with seven games lost. Anhui will meet league's leader Henan on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hebei X. will play against Chongqing (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
