A very interesting game took place in Montevideo. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked 25 de Agosto (6-7) to ninth ranked Verdirrojo (5-7) 66-65 on Friday evening. 25 de Agosto was ahead by 2 points after three quarters before a 20-17 charge of Verdirrojo, which allowed them to win the game. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Gerel Simmons (188-93, college: Lincoln Memorial) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Pablo Makanskas (196-90) accounted for 14 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side. Verdirrojo's coach Mathias Nieto used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Jorge Trindade (205-89) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds and forward Rodrigo Cardozo (191-92) added 15 points and 11 rebounds respectively for 25 de Agosto in the defeat. Four 25 de Agosto players scored in double figures. Verdirrojo moved-up to eighth place. 25 de Agosto lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. Verdirrojo's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Auriblanco.
