Regular Season Round 12: Henan - Dongbu 106-89

Leader Henan delivered the tenth win on Friday night. This time they beat bottom-ranked Dongbu (0-12) 106-89. The game was mostly controlled by Henan. Dongbu managed to win third quarter 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 25-of-28 free shots (89.3 percent) during the game, while Dongbu only scored eight points from the stripe. Henan forced 19 Dongbu turnovers. The best player for the winners was Nigerian-American point guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) who scored 36 points (!!!) and 4 steals (went 15 for 15 at the free throw line !!!). American-Nigerian center Chris Otule (211-90, college: Marquette) chipped in 25 points and 7 rebounds. Henan's coach Weigang Li used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Tujun Shen (185-92) who recorded 29 points and 8 rebounds and guard Yi Jiang (195-93) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Henan (10-2) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Dongbu at the other side still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Henan are looking forward to face Anhui (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Dongbu will play against Luoyang (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
