Regular Season Round 19: Dandenong R. - Frankston B. 69-74

There was a surprise result when seventh ranked Frankston Blues (7-13) won against much higher ranked Rangers (13-7) in Dandenong 74-69 on Saturday. Rangers were trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 14-5 charge of Frankston Blues, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Rangers to just 5 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Rangers 45-29 including 16 on the offensive glass. Quite impressive performance for power forward Carley Mijovic (196-94) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. American center Chelsea Snyder (198-90, college: VCU, agency: Gamble Sports Management) contributed with 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Frankston Blues' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Guard Aimie Clydesdale (177-93) answered with 28 points and 5 steals and guard Amelia Todhunter (166-88) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Rangers. Frankston Blues maintains seventh place in League with 7-13 record. Loser Rangers keep the second position with seven games lost. Frankston Blues will face higher ranked Ballarat Rush (#4) in Wendouree in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rangers will play on the road against Nationals in Belconnen and hope to win that game.
