There was no surprise when 5th ranked Nationals (6-13) were edged on the road by third ranked Tornadoes (12-7) 76-74 on Saturday. Quite impressive performance for guard Lauren Nicholson (183-93, college: St.Mary's, CA) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Tayla Roberts (191-93) contributed with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Abigail Wehrung (177-95) answered with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Maddison Penn (185-94, college: UBC) added 21 points in the effort for Nationals. Four Nationals players scored in double figures. Tornadoes maintains third place in League with 12-7 record having just three points less than leader Knox R. Loser Nationals keep the fifth position with 13 games lost. Tornadoes will face Ballarat Rush (#4) in Wendouree in the next round. Nationals will play at home against the league's second-placed Rangers and hope to win that game.
