Regular Season Round 19: Gold Coast R. - SW Metro P. 62-77

Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked Rollers (0-14) lost to ninth ranked Pirates (7-7) in Gold Coast 62-77 on Saturday. Pirates dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Rollers' 38. They outrebounded Rollers 49-34 including 16 on the offensive glass. Quite impressive performance for swingman Stephanie Bairstow (188-94, college: Utah St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. American center Shelby Cheslek (196-92, college: Gonzaga) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Four Pirates players scored in double figures. Pirates' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Ashli Payne (183-95, college: E.Washington, agency: Gamble Sports Management) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and Shanelle Tolley added 19 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Rollers. Pirates maintains ninth place in League with 7-7 record. Loser Rollers still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Pirates will face Mountaineers (#14) in Toowoomba in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Rollers will play on the road against Mountaineers in Toowoomba and hope to get finally their first victory.
