There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Rockhampton Rockets (7-8) won against at home second-best Brisbane Capitals (11-3) 93-82 on Saturday. They outrebounded Brisbane Capitals 49-30 including 34 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American power forward Rashad Hassan (203-89, college: Savannah St.) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 15 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field). His fellow American import guard Chris Fowler (185-93, college: Cent.Michigan) chipped in 15 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized American forward Dusty Rychart (201-78, college: Minnesota) who recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and naturalized New Zealand swingman Zac Carter (203-89) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Five Rockhampton Rockets and four Brisbane Capitals players scored in double figures. Rockhampton Rockets moved-up to eighth place in League. Loser Brisbane Capitals keep the second position with three games lost. Rockhampton Rockets will face Maroochydore Clippers (#12) in Cotton Tree in the next round. Brisbane Capitals' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Brisbane Brisbane Spartans.
