There was no surprise in Tullamarine where 12th ranked Whittlesea City (2-19) was crushed by tenth ranked Hume City Broncos (7-14) 96-67 on Saturday. Hume City Broncos outrebounded Whittlesea City 53-33 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Whittlesea City's players. The best player for the winners was naturalized British guard Lee Jeka (193-83) who had a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Mike Rose (193-87, college: E.Kentucky) chipped in 24 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Dominic Bruno who recorded 23 points and Emmerson Potts-Broughton added 9 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Whittlesea City's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Hume City Broncos moved-up to ninth place in League. Loser Whittlesea City keeps the twelfth position with 19 games lost. Hume City Broncos will face higher ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (#8) in Greensborough in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Whittlesea City will play at home against Stingrays (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
