Regular Season Round 21: Hills H. - Sydney Comets 90-91

Eighth-ranked Hills Hornets (8-11) made lots of trouble for first ranked Sydney City Comets (17-1) in Baulkham Hills on Saturday. The visitors from Alexandria managed to secure only one-point victory 91-90. However their fans expected much easier game. Sydney City Comets made 23-of-27 free shots (85.2 percent) during the game. Strangely Hills Hornets outrebounded Sydney City Comets 55-31 including a 23-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Will McPhee stepped up and scored 45 points (!!!) for the winners and forward Christian Jurlina (196, college: Whitworth) chipped in 24 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was naturalized British forward Paul Brotherson (198-89, college: Metro St.) with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds and naturalized Croatian power forward Goran Veg (205) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four Hills Hornets players scored in double figures. Hills Hornets' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Sydney City Comets maintains first place in League with 17-1 record. Loser Hills Hornets keep the eighth position with 11 games lost. Sydney City Comets will meet at home Sutherland Sharks (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hills Hornets will play against Hawks and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
