Regular Season Round 21: Bendigo B. - Ballarat M. 94-80

There was a small surprise when fifth ranked Bendigo Braves (10-12) beat at home second-best Ballarat Miners (13-8) 94-80 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Bendigo Braves. Ballarat Miners was better in third quarter 22-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Bendigo Braves won last quarter 26-14. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Ballarat Miners' players. The best player for the winners was American power forward CJ Aiken (206-90, college: St.Joseph's) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import guard Dyami Starks (188-92, college: Bryant) chipped in 24 points and 8 assists. Four Bendigo Braves players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Craig Moller (206-94, agency: MKP Management) who recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds and New Zealand forward Leon Henry (200-85, college: S.Idaho JC) added 12 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Bendigo Braves maintains fifth place in League with 10-12 record. Loser Ballarat Miners keep the second position with eight games lost. Bendigo Braves will face higher ranked NW Tasmania Thunder (#3) in Ulverstone in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ballarat Miners will play at home against NW Tasmania Thunder and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
