There was no surprise in Mt. Barker where 10th ranked Eastern Mavericks (2-16) were crushed by second ranked Noarlunga City Southern Tigers (13-5) 99-60 on Saturday. Noarlunga City Southern Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Eastern Mavericks' 38. Noarlunga City Southern Tigers forced 26 Eastern Mavericks turnovers and outrebounded them 55-35 including 17 on the offensive glass. Noarlunga City Southern Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Mike Nwelue (196-93, college: Drury) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. The former international swingman Anthony Drmic (198-92, college: Boise St.) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Noarlunga City Southern Tigers players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Lachlan Barker (179-96) who recorded 16 points and 6 rebounds and forward Tom Cioffi (197-87) added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Noarlunga City Southern Tigers maintains second place in League with 13-5 record having just four point less than leader Mackay M. Loser Eastern Mavericks keep the tenth position with 16 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
