There was no surprise when 11th ranked Sutherland Sharks (3-16) were defeated on the road by sixth ranked Maitland Mustangs (11-8) 99-81 on Saturday. Maitland Mustangs looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Sutherland Sharks' players. The best player for the winners was American forward Tyler Monroe (201, college: Azusa Pacific) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 15 rebounds and 4 assists (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field). Guard Joshua Clifford (196-88) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four Maitland Mustangs players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American Isaac Turner (191-92, college: St.Vincent) who recorded 30 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Jake Wilson (193-88) added 15 points respectively. Maitland Mustangs moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Sutherland Sharks keep the eleventh position with 16 games lost. Maitland Mustangs will face Manly Warringah Sea Eagles (#6) in Narrabeen in the next round. Sutherland Sharks will play on the road against the league's leader Sydney City Comets (#1) in Alexandria and hope to win that game.
