Regular Season Round 13: Liceo Curico - Sportiva Italiana 87-69

There was a change at the Libcentro Pro leadership position after last games. Round 13 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Sportiva Italiana (10-3). They were defeated by second ranked Liceo Curico (11-2) 87-69 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sportiva Italiana. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Liceo Curico dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Sportiva Italiana's 28. Liceo Curico forced 19 Sportiva Italiana turnovers. Guard Marcelo Perez (193-99) stepped up and scored 25 points for the winners and the former international forward Mohunir Zerene (187-94) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Liceo Curico players scored in double figures. At the losing side Matias Lubiano (-99) responded with 14 points and 5 rebounds and forward Camilo Bustamante (187-89) scored 13 points and 6 steals. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Liceo Curico have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Sportiva Italiana at the other side dropped to the second place with three games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Liceo Curico. There is only one round left in the Regular Season. And it will be most important game for Sportiva Italiana this season. They will face Stadio Italiano trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Liceo Curico will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Arturo Prat in San Felipe.
