Regular Season Round 19: Bendigo LB - Ballarat R. 60-61

A very close game took place in Bendigo between Ballarat Rush and Lady Braves. Fourth ranked Ballarat Rush (8-11) got a very close victory on the road over much higher ranked Lady Braves (13-7). Ballarat Rush managed to escape with a 1-point win 61-60 on Saturday evening. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Jaterra Bonds (170-92, college: Florida) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws). Forward Ashleigh Spencer (-92) accounted for 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Carlie Smith came up with 15 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Jane Chalmers (162-83) added 7 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for Lady Braves in the defeat. Ballarat Rush maintains fourth place in League with 8-11 record. Loser Lady Braves keep the second position with seven games lost. Ballarat Rush will meet at home higher ranked Tornadoes (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lady Braves will play against Tornadoes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
