Regular Season Round 19: Bulleen B. - Diamond VE 79-39

Date: July 23, 2017
Very expected game when 10th ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (2-17) were smashed by fourth ranked Boomers (13-6) in Bulleen 79-39 on Sunday. Boomers held Diamond Valley Eagles to an opponent 19.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 44.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Boomers forced 21 Diamond Valley Eagles turnovers and outrebounded them 58-35 including a 47-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Boomers looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Diamond Valley Eagles' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Boomers made 9 blocks. It was a very good performance for American power forward Sarah Boothe (195-90, college: Stanford) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points, 23 rebounds and 6 assists. Dutch guard Natalie Van-Den-Adel (185-90, college: Colorado St.) contributed with a triple-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. Forward Kate Oliver (193-91, college: USC) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and the former international forward Kasey Burton (178-96) added 6 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Diamond Valley Eagles. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Boomers maintains fourth place in League with 13-6 record. Loser Diamond Valley Eagles keep the tenth position with 17 games lost. Boomers will face league's leader Knox Raiders in Wantirna South in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Diamond Valley Eagles will play on the road against Hume City Broncos (#6) in Tullamarine and hope to win that game.
