Rather predictable result in Mandurah where twelfth ranked Giants (7-17) beat 14th ranked Magic (4-20) 73-69 on Sunday. Giants forced 19 Magic turnovers. The best player for the winners was American power forward Jacob Holmen (202-91, college: N.Texas) who scored 27 points and 7 rebounds. His fellow American import forward JB Pillard (201, college: Cent.Washington) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Giants players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Will McNeill (185-90, college: Washburn) who recorded a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds and forward Akau Deng (200-93, college: N.Platte CC) added 10 points and 12 rebounds respectively. Magic's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Giants maintains twelfth place in League with 7-17 record. Loser Magic keeps the fourteenth position with 20 games lost. Giants will face higher ranked Flames (#10) in Rockingham in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Magic will play at home against Stirling S. (#7) and hope to win that game.
