Regular Season Round 13: Henan - Anhui 141-135

An interesting game for Henan (11-2) which hosted in Henan 3rd placed Anhui (8-5). First ranked Henan managed to get a 6-point victory 141-135. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Anhui. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Henan made 36-of-45 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Henan had a 37-26 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Henan made 7 blocks. 32 personal fouls committed by Anhui helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian-American point guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) who helped to win the game recording 45 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists. American-Nigerian center Chris Otule (211-90, college: Marquette) contributed with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 24 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winners. Five Henan players scored in double figures. American point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St.) answered with 56 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import Chris Johnson (210-85, college: LSU) added 46 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds in the effort for Anhui. Anhui's coach Yong Zhang rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Henan have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-2 record. Anhui at the other side dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Henan are looking forward to face Chongqing (#8) in Lanling in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Anhui will play on the road against Luoyang (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
