Regular Season Round 3: Piratas - Leones 70-61

Very important is a road loss of Leones (1-2) against Piratas (2-1) on Tuesday night. Visiting Leones were defeated by Piratas in a tough game in Ibarra 61-70. Piratas looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Leones' players. The best player for the winners was American forward Willie Clayton (203-92, college: Georgia St.) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds. The former international center Carlos Delgado (202-90) chipped in 10 points and 5 rebounds. Piratas' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Venezuelan center Javinger Vargas (202-90) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and Carlos Cortez (-94) added 20 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Piratas will meet Portviejo (#5) on the road in the next round. Leones will play against Barcelona and hope to win that game.
