Regular Season Round 14: Guizhou - Beijing 128-97

Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Beijing (4-10) was rolled over on the road by seventh ranked Guizhou (9-5) 128-97. The game was mostly controlled by Guizhou. Beijing was better in fourth quarter 25-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Beijing 48-37 including 35 on the defensive glass. Guizhou players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American point guard Mark Lyons (185-89, college: Arizona, agency: Higher Vision Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 5 assists. Central African-American power forward James Mays (206-86, college: Clemson) contributed with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. American center Michael Holyfield (211-92, college: Sam Houston St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds and power forward Yunan Liu (205-94) added 20 points in the effort for Beijing. Four Beijing players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Guizhou moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Guangxi and Luoyang. Beijing lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with ten games lost. Guizhou's next round opponent will be Fujian (#10) in Fuzhou where they are favorite. Beijing will play on the road against Hebei X. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
