Regular Season Round 22: Geelong S. - Nunawading S. 96-76

There was a minor upset when top-ranked Spectres (17-6) were outscored on the road by fourth ranked Geelong Supercats (14-9) 96-76 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Geelong Supercats. Spectres was better in fourth quarter 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Spectres 44-29 including 16 on the offensive glass. Geelong Supercats looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Quite impressive performance for American guard Demarcus Gatlin (193, college: Sam Houston St.) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 4 assists. The former international swingman Nathan Herbert (192-84) contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Thomas Wright replied with 13 points and Sam McDonald (-84) added 9 points and 4 assists in the effort for Spectres. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Geelong Supercats maintains fourth position in League with 14-9 record. Loser Spectres still keep top place with six games lost. Geelong Supercats will face Bandits (#5) in Albury in the next round. Spectres will play at home against Canberra Gunners (#7) and hope to win that game.
