There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Maroochydore Clippers (4-10) edged on the road 8th ranked Rockhampton Rockets (7-9) 111-108 on Friday. Maroochydore Clippers forced 21 Rockhampton Rockets turnovers. Rockhampton Rockets were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for the former international forward Jeromie Hill (203-91, college: UTSA) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 9 rebounds. American guard CJ Massingale (191-82, college: Metro St.) contributed with 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Canadian forward David Wagner (206-92, college: UBC) replied with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds and swingman James Mitchell (194-91) added 18 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Rockhampton Rockets. Four Maroochydore Clippers and five Rockhampton Rockets players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Maroochydore Clippers went down to twelfth position (League) due to points difference. Loser Rockhampton Rockets keep the eighth place with nine games lost. Maroochydore Clippers will face higher ranked Townsville Heat (#3) in Hermit Park in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
