We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when twelfth ranked Beijing (5-10) beat on the road 11th ranked Hebei X. (5-10) 128-110 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Beijing. Hebei X. managed to win fourth quarter 32-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Beijing dominated down low during the game scoring 84 of its points in the paint compared to Hebei X.'s 54. Beijing forced 20 Hebei X. turnovers and outrebounded them 55-31 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American center Michael Holyfield (211-92, college: Sam Houston St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 28 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Marquis Weddle (185-88, college: W.Virg.Wesl.) helped adding 27 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was American guard Kenny Gaines (190-94, college: Georgia, agency: 3 Eye) with 25 points and 8 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and forward Qi Chang (203-92) scored 17 points. Four Beijing and five Hebei X. players scored in double figures. Hebei X.'s coach JunPei Zhao rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Beijing moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with defeated Hebei X. Hebei X. lost fourth consecutive game. Beijing will meet at home higher ranked Fujian (#10) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hebei X. will play against the league's leader Henan where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
