There was no surprise in Mackay where 12th ranked Clippers (4-11) were outplayed by third ranked Meteorettes (14-4) 96-75 on Saturday. Meteorettes looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Nadeen Payne (188-93) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 31 points and 13 rebounds and guard Jillian Haughton (179-92) who added 17 points, 5 rebounds, 11 assists and 5 steals during the contest. Four Meteorettes players scored in double figures. American center Erica Carlson (193-88, college: Dixie St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds and her fellow American import guard Janelle Adams (175-90, college: Cleveland St.) scored 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Meteorettes maintains third position in League with 14-4 record having just two points less than leader Brisbane S. Loser Clippers keep the twelfth place with 11 games lost. Meteorettes will have a break next round. Clippers will play at home against Flames (#5) and hope to win that game.
