The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Wanneroo as it allowed them to take a leadership position in League. Wanneroo edged 6th ranked Slammers in Joondalup 89-86. Wanneroo players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Canadian power forward Ryan Wright (206-87, college: Oklahoma) had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized Greek guard Trian Iliadis (190-89, college: ODU) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Wanneroo's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side American-Irish forward Brian Voelkel (198-92, college: Vermont, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 20 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Tre Nichols (180-89, college: Boise St., agency: SDJ Sports) scored 24 points and 6 rebounds. Four Slammers players scored in double figures. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Slammers at the other side dropped to the seventh place with ten games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
