Regular Season Round 22: Ballarat M. - NW Tasmania 98-79

The game between closely ranked teams ended with one of their biggest challengers NW Tasmania Thunder's (13-10) road loss to second ranked Ballarat Miners (15-8) in Wendouree 79-98 on Sunday. Ballarat Miners dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to NW Tasmania Thunder's 34. They outrebounded NW Tasmania Thunder 48-25 including a 22-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Ballarat Miners looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Quite impressive performance for New Zealand forward Leon Henry (200-85, college: S.Idaho JC) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Craig Moller (206-94, agency: MKP Management) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Ballarat Miners' coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Jeremiah Ingram (201-93, college: N.C.Central) replied with 14 points and 7 rebounds and Ben Richmond (194-93) added 18 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for NW Tasmania Thunder. Four Ballarat Miners and five NW Tasmania Thunder players scored in double figures. Ballarat Miners maintains second position in League with 15-8 record having just nine point less than leader Mackay M. Loser NW Tasmania Thunder keeps the third place with ten games lost. Ballarat Miners will face BA CoE (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. NW Tasmania Thunder will play against Dandenong Rangers (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
