No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked South West Metro Pirates (10-5) crushed 14th ranked Toowoomba Mountaineers (1-15) in Runcorn 116-82 on Sunday. South West Metro Pirates made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 26 Toowoomba Mountaineers turnovers and outrebounded them 57-35 including a 40-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. South West Metro Pirates looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Toowoomba Mountaineers' players. It was a very good performance for American forward Tanner McGrew (203-93, college: W.Virg.Wesl., agency: Duran International) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. The other American import guard Jeremy Kendle (186-88, college: Bellarmine) contributed with 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Four South West Metro Pirates players scored in double figures. South West Metro Pirates' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Jalil Abdul-Bassit (193, college: Oregon) replied with 30 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Manylok Malek (201-94) added 11 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Toowoomba Mountaineers. South West Metro Pirates maintains sixth position in League with 10-5 record. Loser Toowoomba Mountaineers keep the fourteenth place with 15 games lost. South West Metro Pirates will face Brisbane Spartans (#9) on the road in the next round. Toowoomba Mountaineers will play against Rollers (#10) in Gold Coast and hope to win that game.
