Regular Season Round 18: Dongbu - Fujian 89-110

Bottom-ranked Dongbu (0-18) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 110-89 loss to tenth ranked Fujian (9-9) in Nanjin. The game was mostly controlled by Fujian. Dongbu was better in third quarter 25-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Dongbu's 44. Fujian forced 19 Dongbu turnovers. It was a good game for Ivorian-French point guard Mouloukou-Souleyman Diabate (181-87) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. American forward Brandon Bowman (206-84, college: Georgetown) contributed with 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Tujun Shen (185-92) replied with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Yi Jiang (195-93) added 18 points in the effort for Dongbu. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fujian moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Lhasa and Chongqing. Dongbu at the other side still closes the standings. Fujian will play against higher ranked Anhui (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Dongbu will play against Jiangsu L. (#13) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
