There was no surprise in He Fei where 13th ranked Jiangsu L. (1-17) was defeated by eleventh ranked Beijing (7-11) 94-80. The game was mostly controlled by Beijing. Jiangsu L. was better in fourth quarter 26-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Jiangsu L. 54-41 including 19 on the offensive glass. American center Michael Holyfield (211-92, college: Sam Houston St.) notched a double-double by scoring 31 points and 31 rebounds to lead the effort and power forward Yunan Liu (205-94) supported him with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Beijing's coach ShuMin Gao allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 22 points and 18 rebounds by American-Palestinian forward Michael Nunnally (203-86, college: Pacific) did not help to save the game for Jiangsu L.. Point guard Peng Wang (183-94) added 18 points. Four Jiangsu L. players scored in double figures. Beijing maintains eleventh position with 7-11 record. Jiangsu L. lost twelfth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with 17 games lost. Beijing's next round opponent will be higher ranked Luoyang (#6) on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Jiangsu L. will play against Dongbu (#14) in Nanjin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
