Regular Season Round 7: Leones - Costa Caribe 59-58

Important game to mention about took place in Managua. Fourth ranked Leones (3-4) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 3rd placed Costa Caribe (2-5) 59-58 in the fight for the third place. The hosts were ahead by 6 points but lost the second period ending it with a 7-point deficit before their 19-11 run, which allowed them to win the game. It was an exceptional evening for Dominican Joan Luis who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. American point guard Isaiah Thomas (188-93) accounted for 10 points and 4 assists for the winning side. Mali-American forward Mamadou Diakite (196-93, college: Immaculata) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Sharlon Hodgson (183-94) added 15 points respectively for Costa Caribe in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Leones moved-up to third place. Costa Caribe at the other side dropped to the bottom position with five games lost. Leones will play against league's leader Bufalos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Costa Caribe will play against the league's leader Bufalos and hopes to get back on the winning track.
