Regular Season Round 20: Shaanxi W. - Guizhou 119-108

The game between Top Four teams took place in Xian. Third ranked host Shaanxi W. (15-5) defeated second-ranked Guizhou (14-6) 119-108. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Guizhou. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Shaanxi W.. Guizhou managed to win second period 27-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Shaanxi W. won last quarter 37-27. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Von Wafer (196-85, college: Florida St.) who helped to win the game recording 39 points (!!!) and 6 assists and the other American import forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi) who added 19 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Central African-American power forward James Mays (206-86, college: Clemson) responded with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds and American point guard Mark Lyons (185-89, college: Arizona, agency: Higher Vision Sports) scored 37 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Guizhou's coach Guodong Zhang rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Shaanxi W. have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Guizhou at the other side dropped to the third position with six games lost. Shaanxi W. are looking forward to face Fujian (#10) in Fuzhou in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Guizhou will play on the road against Hebei X. (#12) and is hoping to win this game.
