Regular Season Round 20: Henan - Guangxi 128-118

NBL top team - Henan (17-3) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat seventh ranked Guangxi (11-9) 128-118. The game was mostly controlled by Henan. Guangxi was better in fourth quarter 36-29. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 32-of-38 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game, while Guangxi only scored eleven points from the stripe. Guangxi was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by American-Nigerian center Chris Otule (211-90, college: Marquette) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 42 points (!!!), 17 rebounds and 4 blocks and Nigerian-American point guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) supported him with 43 points (!!!) and 4 assists (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!). Even a double-double of 46 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 4 assists by American center Isaiah Austin (216-93, college: Baylor) did not help to save the game for Guangxi. His fellow American import guard Marcus Thornton (193-93, college: William & Mary) added 32 points and 4 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Henan have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 17-3 record. Guangxi at the other side keeps the seventh place with nine games lost. Henan will play against Lhasa (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Guangxi will play against Luoyang and hopes to get back on the winning track.
