Regular Season Round 21: Dongbu - Anhui 91-109

Bottom-ranked Dongbu (0-21) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 109-91 loss to sixth ranked Anhui (14-7) in Nanjin on Friday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Anhui. Dongbu managed to win third quarter 27-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Dongbu's 36. Anhui forced 24 Dongbu turnovers. American power forward Bernard James (208-85, college: Florida St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and Jian Li chipped in 21 points. The best for the losing side was guard Yi Jiang (195-93) with 30 points and point guard Tujun Shen (185-92) scored 21 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Anhui. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Hunan and Luoyang. Dongbu lost their twenty first game in a row. They still close the standings. Anhui will meet at home Beijing (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Dongbu will play against Chongqing in Lanling and hopes to get finally their first victory.
