Regular Season Round 21: Luoyang - Guangxi 120-117

The most exciting game of round 21 in the NBL took place in Luoyang. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Guangxi (11-10) to fourth ranked Luoyang (14-7) 120-117 on Friday evening. Luoyang made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Luoyang outrebounded Guangxi 49-31 including 18 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Guangxi helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American point guard Russ Smith (183-91, college: Louisville) who had a double-double by scoring 72 points (!!!), 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. South Sudanese-Lebanese center Ater Majok (208-87, college: Connecticut) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points, 18 rebounds and 5 blocks. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Isaiah Austin (216-93, college: Baylor) who recorded a double-double by scoring 49 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 5 blocks and the other American import guard Marcus Thornton (193-93, college: William & Mary) added 23 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Luoyang have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 14-7 record, which they share with Anhui and Hunan. Guangxi at the other side keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. They share it with Chongqing. Luoyang is looking forward to face Lhasa (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Guangxi will play against Hunan in Changsha and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
