Regular Season Round 22: Guizhou - Henan 136-129

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Henan (18-4) on the court of third ranked Guizhou on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Guizhou 136-129. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Henan. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Henan won third quarter 34-28. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guizhou made 27-of-29 free shots (93.1 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 19 long-distance shots on high 52.8 percentage. 31 personal fouls committed by Henan helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Mark Lyons (185-89, college: Arizona, agency: Higher Vision Sports) who helped to win the game recording 60 points (!!!) and 8 assists (made all of his eight free throws). Central African-American power forward James Mays (206-86, college: Clemson) contributed with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Nigerian-American point guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) replied with 48 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Yuxing Jiang (195-95) added 22 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Henan. Four Guizhou and five Henan players scored in double figures. Guizhou maintains third position with 16-6 record having just two points less than leader Henan. Henan at the other side still keeps top place with four games lost. Guizhou are looking forward to face Luoyang (#5) at home in the next round. Henan will play against Fujian (#10) and is hoping to win this game.
