Regular Season Round 8: Importadora - Portoviejo 97-64

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Portviejo (4-3) against fifth ranked Importadora (4-3) on Tuesday night. Visiting Portviejo was crushed by Importadora in Ambato 97-64. Importadora dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Portviejo's 30. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Portviejo's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Venezuelan forward Jhon Romero (199-85) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Tavares Sledge (203-92, college: USC Aiken, agency: Interperformances) who added 25 points and 5 assists during the contest. Four Importadora players scored in double figures. Importadora's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Adriano Barredas (-92) responded with 25 points and 5 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and Brian Geraldo scored 5 points and 9 rebounds. Importadora moved-up to third place, which they share with Barcelona and Portviejo. Importadora will play against bottom-ranked Triple E-Uda (#8) in Gualaceo in the next round where they are favorite. Portviejo will play at home against the league's second-placed Iccan (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
