Regular Season Round 3: L.Sorocaba - Franca 73-74

The most exciting game of round 3 in the Paulista took place in Sorocabana. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of Liga Sorocaba (3-2) to Vivo/Franca (4-0) 74-73 in the game for the first place. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Liga Sorocaba won third quarter 26-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vivo/Franca forced 19 Liga Sorocaba turnovers. Strangely Liga Sorocaba outrebounded Vivo/Franca 42-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was international point guard Henrique Coelho (183-93) who scored 25 points and 5 assists. Forward Joao-Pedro Demetrio (208-95) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Dontrell Brite (175, college: Mount Olive) who recorded 26 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Lucas Farina (185-95) added 12 points and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) respectively. Liga Sorocaba's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vivo/Franca are looking forward to face Osasco B. (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Liga Sorocaba will play against Paulistano (#6) in Sao Paolo and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
