Regular Season Round 3: America - Bauru 77-71

The game between closely ranked teams ended with America's (1-3) home victory over Paschoalotto/Bauru (2-2) 77-71 on Wednesday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 21-10. But Paschoalotto/Bauru won second period 23-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. America forced 19 Paschoalotto/Bauru turnovers and outrebounded them 47-33 including 17 on the offensive glass. Paschoalotto/Bauru was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American point guard Darnell Artis (175, college: Gwynedd-Mercy) who scored 38 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds. Kleiton Torres (201-89) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Kendall Anthony (173-93, college: Richmond) who recorded 22 points and 5 assists and power forward Michael Uchendu (206-98) added 14 points, 15 rebounds and 8 blocks respectively. Four Paschoalotto/Bauru players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. America will face Pinheiros (#4) in Sao Paolo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Paschoalotto/Bauru will play on the road against Vivo/Franca where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
