Regular Season Round 23: Shaanxi W. - Dongbu 121-67

Bottom-ranked Dongbu (0-23) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their 23th consecutive match to second ranked Shaanxi W. (18-5) 121-67. The game without a history. Shaanxi W. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Dongbu's 32. Shaanxi W. forced 19 Dongbu turnovers and outrebounded them 55-29 including a 36-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Troy Gillenwater (205-88, college: N.Mexico St.) accounted for 29 points and 6 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Four Shaanxi W. players scored in double figures. Point guard Tujun Shen (185-92) came up with 26 points and guard Yi Jiang (195-93) added 20 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Dongbu in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Shaanxi W. have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 18-5 record behind leader Henan. Dongbu at the other side still closes the standings. Shaanxi W. will play against Anhui (#4) at home in the next round. Dongbu will play against Hebei X. (#12) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
