Regular Season Round 10: Juvenil - Portoviejo 79-67

Everything could happen in Vinces at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Juvenil and 6th ranked Portoviejo had identical 4-4 record. This time Juvenil used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Portviejo 79-67 on Tuesday night. The game was mostly controlled by Juvenil. Portoviejo managed to win third quarter 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Venezuelan Nelson Palacios (192-92) scored 34 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Venezuelan guard Jovanni Diaz (195-92) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) during the contest. Juvenil's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Adriano Barredas (-92) responded with 28 points and international guard Jonathan Arboleda (190-95) scored 15 points. Juvenil (5-4) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Importadora and Barcelona. Portoviejo lost third consecutive game. Defending champion dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Juvenil will meet Importadora (#5) in the next round. Portoviejo will play against the league's second-placed Piratas in Ibarra and hope to secure a win.
