An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Guayaquil. First ranked Iccan faced 3rd ranked Importadora. Host Iccan (7-3) defeated guests from Ambato (5-4) 81-76. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Importadora. Importadora was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Venezuelan forward Juan Herrera (197-81) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 5 rebounds. The former international center Carlos Carcelen (202-81) contributed with 22 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. American forward Tavares Sledge (203-92, college: USC Aiken, agency: Interperformances) replied with 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and Venezuelan forward Jhon Romero (199-85) added 14 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Importadora. Four Importadora players scored in double figures. Iccan maintains first position with 7-3 record. Importadora at the other side dropped to the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with Barcelona and Juvenil. Iccan will play against bottom-ranked Triple E-Uda (#8) in Gualaceo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Importadora will play at home against Juvenil (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
