Regular Season Round 10: Leones - Piratas 73-79

The most important game in the last round took place in Riobamba between second ranked Leones (6-4) and fourth ranked Piratas (6-4) on Tuesday night. Leones were defeated by Piratas in a tough game at home 73-79. Leones were trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 12-point lead after three quarters before a 33-15 charge of Piratas, which allowed them to win the game. Puerto Rican-Venezuelan swingman Rafael Perez (193-82, agency: Paris Global Sports) fired 23 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. The former international center Carlos Delgado (202-90) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. Dominican point guard Jose Acosta (185-92) produced 19 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and Rafael Luis added 19 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Piratas have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Leones. Piratas is looking forward to face Portoviejo (#7) in Portviejo in the next round where they are favorite. Leones will play on the road against Barcelona (#6) in Guayaquil and are hoping to win this game.
